Peter Feuilherade
I took voluntary early retirement from the BBC in 2010, and I'm now a freelance writer. I had worked there as a reporter and news editor since the 1980s, after graduating from the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS) in London.
Before university, I knocked around the former Portuguese colonies in Africa as a freelance photographer and reporter.
My special interests focus on the Middle East (economic and defence issues, and relations with Asia and Africa), and the international broadcasting industry. In the 1990s, I worked at the BBC Arabic Service (radio) as a talkswriter and producer.
I have also done a lot of non-BBC freelance journalism, and written for UK-based publications including The Guardian, The Times and The New Statesman. Now I write regularly for The Middle East magazine.
